Why support this production with your review?

-The People’s History of Next was devised in workshops with over 500 members of the community including students from Oakland School for the Arts, Oakland Tech, Skyline High School, Contra Costa School for the Performing Arts, Laney College, Berkeley City College, Chabot College and Stagebridge. Each group of writers dove into the questions: What would happen if all the adults on Earth collectively died of grief? What would the youth do with the future of the world? The result is a play conceived, developed, and performed by the voices of the Bay Area’s youth.

-Champion the notion that shows developed and performed by youth are worthy of professional productions and professional critique.

-TheatreFIRST has deepened its exploration of representation and equity by spearheading a living work initiative, removing stipends in favor of a living wage. We hope that this model will create a movement and that each theatre company – especially those like ours positioned most often at the entry point of an artist’s career – renegotiates their responsibility to the very people that make our stories possible. Your support of the work we produce is also support for the initiatives that make our work possible.

-Have you seen our 18-19 season? Not only this massive endeavor but new work by Regina Evans and Geetha Reddy plus a ton of surprises to be announced. Help your audiences get to know us and what we do.
