Rohina Malik is a critically acclaimed Chicago playwright and solo performance artist. She was born and raised in London, England, of South Asian heritage. Her one-woman play UNVEILED had its world premiere at the 16th Street Theater, where it received critical acclaim. Rohina’s second play THE MECCA TALES was produced by Chicago Dramatists in 2015 and nominated for a Jeff Award for Best New Work. Her new play, YASMINA’S NECKLACE, had its world premiere at the 16th Street Theater in January 2016, was nominated for a Jeff Award for Best New Work and will be produced by The Goodman Theatre in Oct 2017.

She is a Resident Playwright at Chicago Dramatists, an Artistic Associate at the 16th Street Theater and Voyage Theater Company in NYC.  Recently, Rohina became an Artistic Affiliate at American Blues theater.  Her plays have been produced at the 16th Street Theater, Victory Gardens Theater, Crossroads Theater, Next Theater, Brava Theater, Voyage Theater Company, Silk Road Rising, Theater Project Baltimore and Mustard Seed Theater.


Directing evolved out of Bridgette’s love affair with choreography and dance-making transcended out of the intense need to cultivate physical theatre that could ultimately heighten the experience of storytelling for both the performing artist and the audiences who dive into these unknown and delicate worlds. Directing credits include: GERTRUDE & Cooley’s Reel; two short plays written by Madeline Puccioni. Bagyo written by Rob Dario. Le Petit Mort for Darb 1718 Contemporary Cultural Center, Cairo, Egypt. And Beloved, a one- woman show inspired by Shakespeare’s Queen Margaret in Henry VI part 3. Created for the Nova Danca Dance Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Choreography credits include: Bonnie & Clyde, Stage1 Theatre Company; RENT, San Jose State University; Be Still, And I Will Return For You, Palace of Fine Arts; The Tempest, African American Shakespeare Company; The Fourth Messenger, written by Tanya Shaffer; HONK! Holiday Musical for Shakespeare Santa Cruz and UCSC; Spring Break The Musical written by Sara Faith Alterman: Of the Earth, Shotgun Players; Charlotte’s Web, Penninsula Youth Theatre; New Faces, Berlin, Germany; Dick Whittington, New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, England. Currently, choreographing for Anton’s Well Theater Company’s production of Tender Napalm directed by Artistic Director Robert Estes. Bridgette was a performer and trainer for the Off-Broadway Argentinean Aerial Theatre Company De La Guarda performing Villa Villa in NYC and for the international tour. She was also apart of the international aerial performing cast representing Volkswagen for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, Beijing.
